01 All Saints Day and 02 Day of the Dead!

The Day of the Dead Festival in Puerto Vallarta has gained special significance in recent years.

As part of these celebrations, Puerto Vallarta earned the Guinness World Records distinction of "The Tallest Calavera Catrina in the World" for two consecutive years, in 2022 and 2023.

Since then, the monumental catrina, standing over 27 meters tall, has undoubtedly been the artistic centerpiece of the Day of the Dead Festival in Puerto Vallarta: a celebration that includes the placement of altars to the dead, more than 80 giant "sugar skulls" decorated in various motifs throughout the Puerto Vallarta Malecón, and a full program of cultural activities.

The Day of the Dead celebrations in Puerto Vallarta conclude with a must-see visit to the cemeteries on November 2nd. The cemetery in the 5 de Diciembre neighborhood, for example, becomes a family festival: while the people of Vallarta come to honor their deceased, outside in the surrounding area you can find a variety of vendors selling fresh marigold flowers, Mexican snacks, bread of the dead, and even mariachis!
