Charrería is a symbol of Mexican identity and a tradition kept alive by charros and escaramuzas.
National Charro Day is an opportunity to appreciate and value this cultural expression.
National Charro Day is celebrated on September 14 in Mexico, and in Puerto Vallarta, it is commemorated with a parade and events at the charro arena. This day is a celebration of charrería, considered Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and a showcase of Mexican identity, according to the Mexican Government.
A parade with charros and escaramuzas takes place through the streets of Puerto Vallarta, showcasing charro tricks and drum music.
In addition to the parade, events are held at the Miguel "Prieto" Ibarria charro arena, where different charro tricks can be seen.
Vallarta International Charro Championship:
An international championship is held at the charro arena, with the participation of charros from Mexico and other countries.
