In 1993, a group of citizens concerned about strengthening the cultural life of the city and the opportunities for the population to access it, met to establish Pro Biblioteca de Vallarta, A.C., a civil association that would call on residents, visitors, the government and the business community to join forces to build a Library for Puerto Vallarta.
Finally, on November 30, 1996, the Library opened its doors for the first time, with 15,000 volumes and serving an average of 1,500 users monthly.

Its mission is to offer the community an inclusive space that promotes learning and human development. Promote the development of creative and sensitive thinking through reading and practice in various artistic manifestations.
